Hi, I am a heart surgeon with vast experience of replacing and repairing mitral valves. Today itself, I have carried out one surgery in which I replaced both  - mitral and aortic valve of a patient.

Mitral valve replacement typically lasts about 2 and a half to 3 and a half hours. Recovery is pretty fast but I must say that usually the patients having undergone this surgery start feeling normal and free from the major and minor post-operative discomforts in about 4 weeks after the surgery.
